Lentil soup and potatoes

Preparation: Step 1

  • Prepare all the ingredients for making soup with lentils and potatoes.

    This time I tried to make this soup with a battal (sweet potatoes). Personally, I liked more than with the usual one.

    I take red red. It is prepared very quickly and does not require preliminary soaking. You can take any lentil, but then the cooking time will change.

    From greenery — parsley and feathers of green onions. The cilantro is very good here, but I ended with it.

  • Step 2

    Finely chop onions and pass the garlic through the press.

    Cut the stalk of celery with a small cube.

  • Step 3

    In a pan with a thick bottom, heat the coconut oil and fry onion, celery and garlic. First fry the onion, 2 minutes, and then add celery with garlic. Fry over low heat for 5-7 minutes to give celery a little soften.

    The combustion temperature of coconut oil is quite high. So it is perfect for roasting. Do not make fire maximum and get an excellent fry and light, pleasant coconut aroma in the dish. No in stock or do not want this oil, replace it with any vegetable.

  • Step 4

    In the meantime, the vegetables are fried, peel and cut potatoes with a small cube. In my case, this is a potato.

  • Step 5

    Add tomato paste and turmeric to the roasting. Fry for another minute.

    Turmeric, garlic and coconut oil will eventually give a sort of Indian note to our soup. Instead of turmeric, you can take a pinch of zira and ground coriander.

    Instead of tomato paste, in stock, I add a couple of tablespoons of home ketchup.

  • Step 6

    Add potatoes, lentils, water (1 l) and bring to a boil. Salt, pepper.

    I have salt 1 tbsp. l. Without a hill. For us just right.

    Soup with lentils and potatoes is quite thick. If desired, add a little more water.

  • Step 7

    Cook soup no more than 12-15 minutes. At the end, add chopped greens and turn off in a couple of minutes. Do not forget to check for salt-pepper!
