Preparation: Step 1
-
Prepare all ingredients for chicken rolls at home.
The chicken must be cooled. I already have a ready -made hip fillet without bone. If you use a whole chicken thigh, you must first remove the bone from it.
Turn on the oven 180 degrees so that it manages to warm up well.
-
Step 2
Prepare chicken fillet. Put it on the board with a skin down. Cover on top with a plastic bag or film and beat off with a special hammer.
The bag is necessary so that small pieces of meat do not fly away from the hammer, and your kitchen remains clean 🙂
-
Step 3
Prepare a sauce for chicken rolls with filling.
In a bowl, connect 1-2 teaspoons of honey, mustard, a little salt, ground black pepper and dry herbs. Mix everything well.
💡 Advice: Choose herbs to taste — Provencal or French herbs are ideal.
-
Step 4
Remove the film and grease the surface of the meat with aromatic sauce — about a teaspoon for each fillet.

-
Step 5
Put entire rods on the edge of each fillet — usually 2 pieces. Focus on size: if the rods are large, one is enough.
-
Step 6
Gently turn the fillet into a roll so that the rods are inside, and the skin on the outside. In this way, prepare all chicken rolls. I got 5 pieces.
💡 Advice: If the roll does not hold the shape poorly, it can be fixed with a toothpick or bandaged it with a thread.
-
Step 7
Put the rulers from the chicken thigh in shape. It is better to choose the shape in size — so that the rolls are densely lying, but not overwhelmed. I use a square form 18 × 18 cm.
-
Step 8
In a deep cup, mix tomato paste and cream until smooth. It is advisable to take paste without excess acid — you can even sweeten it slightly if it is very acidic.
💡 Council: You can add a pinch of paprika or dried garlic — it will turn out even more fragrant.
-
Step 9
Pour the chicken rolls with sauce so that they are completely covered. Send to the preheated oven, bake at 180 degrees 40–45 minutes.
-
Step 10
Remove the finished rolls out of the oven, let them stand for a couple of minutes so that the juices “calm down”.
-
Step 11
Chicken rolls with a filling in the oven are ready. Serve hot — they are tasty with mashed potatoes, rice, vegetables or just with bread.
Bon appetit!
