  • Prepare the ingredients. Hot red peppers sold in the store usually have a medium heat, this is important to consider. Choose the proportions of sweet and hot peppers to your taste. I give the classic proportion of 1 to 1. By the way, for a more saturated and bright shade, it is better not to use green and yellow peppers. But orange ones will do just fine.

    Important: it is not advisable to replace corn starch with potato starch, but you can take tapioca starch, increasing its amount by 1.5 times (15 g).

    Instead of apple cider vinegar, you can use natural rice or white wine sauce to make a sweet chili sauce recipe at home. Balsamic is also suitable. But with apple, in my opinion, the taste is somewhat softer.

  • Step 2

    Cut the hot pepper into large pieces along with the seeds directly into the blender bowl.

    Tip: if you use round mini peppers, it is better to remove the seeds from half the fruits. There are too many of them there.

  • Step 3

    Chop the sweet pepper, also with the seeds. If desired, some of the seeds can be removed.

  • Step 4

    Peel the garlic and add it to the peppers.

  • Step 5

    Pour in half a portion of water (50 ml).

  • Step 6

    Grind everything thoroughly in a blender, using the pulse mode or controlling the grinding for 3-4 seconds with breaks.

    Tip: Use a spatula to remove components from the sides as needed.

  • Step 7

    Transfer the mixture to a small saucepan with a thick bottom and pour in the vinegar.

  • Step 8

    Add sugar and salt, place on heat slightly above medium and bring to a boil. Cook until slightly reduced, about 4-5 minutes (4/6 power for an electric stove).

  • Step 9

    While the mixture is cooking, mix the cornstarch with the remaining cold water. Try to break up all the lumps so they don't get stuck in the sauce.

  • Step 10

    Pour starch into sweet chili sauce, which is prepared according to the recipe at home. And mix thoroughly.

  • Step 11

    Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute until the first signs of thickening.

  • Step 12

    Immediately pour the sauce, which will thicken noticeably, into a jar. I use a 220 ml jar and also leave some for eating in a 150 ml gravy boat.

  • Step 13

    Homemade sweet chili sauce is ready. Serve the sauce with your favorite dish when the chili has cooled completely. In total we got about 400 ml of aromatic sweet chili.
